A t the resumiff ion of the Cronin trial Joseph Dennigan. political correspondent for the Irish press, declined. as a matter of jjrivilege, to disclose the official source whence he obtained confirmation oi the news that members of the Young Ireland Association would be allowed a short period in which to cease membership* The President disallowed the. fdca of privilege and permitted Dennigan to communicate with liis editor who said that disclosure would be a breach of confidence. Dennigan therefore persisted in his refusal and was
sentenced to a month’s imprisonment for contempt of court. Air McEnerv, the, Prosecutor, contended that Cronin's conduct during the raid inqieded the machinery of the Government-. The hearing was concluded and Cronin’s parole was extended until the findings are promulgated.
