MEAT QUOTAS.
FURTHER RESTRICTIONS.
CONSULTATION WITH DOMINIONS.
United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, December 28. Though it is obvious from the recent speeches of Major Elliot (Minister of Agriculture) that Australia and New Zealand will be asked to further restrict meat shipments after the expiration of the Ottawa meat agreement, no direct requests have yet been made. The Australian Press Association understands that the Dominions will be further consulted before the terms of Britain’s request are drawn up. Meanwhile there has been consultation between some of the a gents-general with the object of assisting in the preparation of Australia’s case against further restriction.
Protests have already been lodged on behalf of Queensland and Western Australia.
