TRAGEDIES OF WAR.
Military courts now reviewing painful tragedies of the Great War have discovered the innocence of several soldiers who were executed as deserters or traitors.
One was executed m 1914 on a charge of having wilfully shot off a finger of his left hand. Evidence of comrades now shows that the enemy inflicted the wound. Consequently his widow has been awarded, a pension of £l2O a year.
