ANTI-BRITISH DOPE.

“The Educational Worker” is a monthly paper issued by the Educational Workers’ League of Australia and circulating amongst certain, school teachers. Like its contemporary of the same name in England it is anti-British throughout, besides being definitely Communistic, and shows how some teachers are schooled in the art of propaganda by misrepresentation. In discussing the future of our youth it sets out to prove that our children are neglected in the Empire m spite of there being enough wealth to improve their conditions. As evidence of this it takes as an example the last British Budget “where,” it says, “thirteen parts go to war preparations, three to education and social services and three to social insurance.” This statement is definitely false, for out of a total “ordinary expenditure” of £730,<875,000 the army, navy and air forces account for £110,500,000 whereas education, social services and insurance amount to £183,700,000 or nearly double instead of less as this paper asserts. No country in the world provides more generous expenditure on social services than does Great Britain, yet this paper distorts the facts for the benefit of the teachers who subscribe to it in order to provide them with anti-British propaganda. Steps are being taken to circulate this publication in New Zealand. An agent has been appointed and a batch has been sent here for distribution. (Contributed by the New Zealand Welfare League).
