Mr Rawson applied for a renewal of the license for the Post Office Hotel, Woodville on behalf of the licensee (W. Isherwood) and the owner (L. Dwan). The application had been adjourned from last meeting. Air Rawson stated that since the committee had last met the premises had been inspected by an expert builder. He had submitted a price for extensive repairs, amount--11 ] g to renovation of the building, which would -be sufficient for the next ten years. The owner proposed to accept this tender, and work could start immediately. The committee retired to consider the builder’s detailed report, and on reassembling, the chairman observ-. ed that it was the duty of the committee to see that the building was in proper repair. Undoubtedly the renovations would effect a ” very great improvement. It was apparent that tlie foundations required attenion, and as the scope of this work might be enlarged as the job progressed, it was proposed that the health inspector be empowered tq make periodic visits and confer with the builder and owner on this matter.

Air Dwan agreed to this course, and the application was adjourned tor a further three months
