United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. CALCUTTA, September 2. Stepping into a car in football dress to take part in a match for the Midnapore Club against a Mohammedan team, B. E. J. Barge, the Midnapore Magistrate, was shot dead by a fusilade of bullets within sight of his wife, fired bv a party of Bengalis on the toucli-line. Police officials opened fire and one terrorist was shot dead. Another was seriously wounded and a third, arrested. Burge was a prominent sportsman and was greatly esteemed. Acute indignation prevails.
