LOST TRAMPERS.

PRECAUTIONS FOR THE FUTURE EXPENSES DETAILED. Electric Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON. This Day. The President . ..of the Taraiua Tramping Club issues a statement on the financial aspect of the search for trampers lost recently. The figures relate to the Wellington cost, the Wairarapa, Levin and Manawatu expenses having been dealt with separately in those districts. Expenditure: Injured searcher £33 ■ss 6d, Aero Club’s grant £5 os, audio emergency corps grant £6 11s, food, fares and transport £57 10s; total £lO2 2s 4d. The President says that with the approval of the Manawatu Tramping Club an inquiry was held concerning the search. Numerous reports and suggestions, including a report front the missing party, were closely examined. As a result, safety rules and recommendations had been formulated and these had been published in August in the Tararua Tramper. No attempt had been made to criticise the actions of the missing party, the sole object being to obtain information of value for the guidance of future parties. A scheme for search organisation and co-ordination lor future occasions was being dealt with and would be distributed for approval by other clubs and search committees in due course.
