EUROPE’S PROTEST. DELIBERATIONS JN LONDON. United Press Assn. — By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, August 21. The Wheat Conference has reassembled here in private, lopresentatives of 29 countries attending. A communique explains that the Big Four (America, Canad a.Australia and Argentina) invited the European importing and exporting countries to endeavour to reach an international agreement to limit exports to effective demand, with the object of eliminating v the abnormal carryover, which has been depressing the market for four years. The conference will also endeavour to stabilise prices at a reasonable level, remunerative to the farmer ami fair to the consumer. The position at the conference is greatly complicated by a bumper European harvest. Thus the conference’s problems revert to the American continent, while the outlook of European consuming countries has grown worse owing to the magnificent season and unexpectedly high yields. plus a growing disposition to shut out foreign and increase home production of wheat.
