SPEECHES AT ZIONIST CONGRESS. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copvrigbt. PRAGUE. August 22. The eighteenth Zionist Congress has opened with 370 delegate- and 4000 guests, but Germany and Soviet Russia are not represented. M. Sokiloff, the president, in his opening speech, called on the civilised world to help in building the Jewish homeland in Palestine. “Anti-Semitism has struck a deadly blow at our people, ’ he continued. “We are faced sudd< * y with the ruins of Jewish emancipation in Germany. Thi not enemies of Germany; they are admirers of her culture, but our existence is at stake and the time for protesting is over. Now deeds are wanted.’ M. Valdimir Jabotinsky advocated a merciless fight against the Hitler regime. “We must destroy the enemy,’ he declared, “not only by boycott but by supporting all forces working against Hitler m order to isolate Germany from the civilised world.”
