FOOTBALLERS AND BAND
Electric Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, August 13. Wiremu Hat-ana and party, whose North Auckland tour was cut short by the enforcement of the health iegulations designed to- prevent the spread of sleepy sickness, passed through Auckland to-day on their way home. There are over fifty in the party, including two football teams, a brass band, and a number of women. A limousine and three trucks are carrying the party, one of whom said that the next stopping place would probably be Matamata. The football teams would play about six more matches -before reaching. Louie. Mr E ! . T. Tirikatene, M.P., said that the Maoris had not defied the law in the north, and force was not necessary* a,s a few tactful words by •Ratana would “do the trick ”
