K AIT AW A. A very ideasant afternoon was spent last Thursday when the usual monthly meeting of the local Women’s Institute was held. The presideiit (Mrs Gibson) welcomed the visitors, Mrs Austin and Mrs East, also two new members. The proceedings opened by the smging of the “Ode to Friendship,” followed by the recital of the “Women’s Creed.”

The balance-sheet of the recent social function was presented, which showed it was a pronounced success. -It was decided to make a furtlier donation of 10s to the Area federation and 10s also to the Dominion Federation. Miss Kerridge and Miss Hayward were apomted delegates to attend the forthcoming Council meeting. An interesting demonstration was given by Mrs Delehanty, of Konini, on flax and pine-needle basketmaking and liow to dress flax for such work. ihe monthly competition—the prettiest article made from a flour ba.«r—-was won by Miss E.
