OBITUARY
The last English mail brought the sad news to Airs R. A. Burke, of Alangataiuoka, of the death of her mother, Airs Mary Fogarty, at her home at Aglisli. Oorofin, County Clare, Ireland. The deceased lady had always enjoyed the best of health till recently when she was seized with a severe attack of influenza. Of a family of thirteen only seven now survive her. Her husband predeceased her twenty-six years ago. All of the members of her family were with her to the last, excepting two daughters in New Zealand, Airs R. J. Burke (Hawke’s Bay) and Airs Burke (Alangataiuoka). DEATH OF KEY. JOHN HOBBS. Electric Telegraph—Press Association HASTINGS, June 20. The death at the age of 82 years of the Rev. John Hobbs, who was the first vicar of the parish of Hastings, occurred at his home here on Saturday evening. He was vicar of St. Alatthew’s, Hastings, during the whole of a period of 20 years, from 1890 to 1910. Previously he was vicar of the parishes of Naseby, Gladstone and Gore, and subsequently was vicar of Te Puke, in the Bay of Plenty, and of Terrace End, Palmerston North, and of Wanganui West.
