The association had a very strong and enthusiastic executive, and everything augured well for a successful show. The schedule was gone through very carefully, but no alteration was made in the horses and competitions section, or the cattle classes. In the fat sheep section “wool and carcase combined” was struck out of the conditions governing the three fat ewes and three fat wethers, and on the motion of Mi- W. O’Brien a class for a pen of three ■ewe- lambs was added t 0 the Sftuthdowu section. With a view to popularising the pet lamb class, Mr H. S. Mason moved that the entry fee be Is. He said that it was a children’s class, and the latter should he encouraged to compete. The present entry fee was excessive. Mr Mason’s motion was carried unanimously. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr O. Bassen for.his generous •donation of a rose-bowl for the best pen of three Southdown ram lambs, and a similar compliment was passed to Mr W. R. Taylor for a donation of two guineas, the allocation *of which Was left to the donor and the president District representatives were appointed as follows: Mnsterton, Mr •I. M. Tar bet ; Eketahunn, Mr H. Yule ; Woodville, Mr R. Blv : Ponga--ron. Mr R. B. Robertson; Mauriceville. Mr A. McKay. Ma- Cornford thought it would be a move in the right direction if neighbouring A. and P. Associations were to arrange a competition between each other on the London market in (at lambs. He suggested that each association should, send fifteen pens. 3 in a pen. I'i would make an excellent exhibition, and would let the people at Home see what New Zealand could produce in fat lambs. Of course there would be certain ■clashes and certain weights to he considered. The speaker suggested thac the Masterten. Fieilding, Danns - virke, and Woodville associations be approached in the-matter. Mr Mason said he approved of the scheme. It was a forward move, and if nothing I ■came of it the association would he | no worse off. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr W. P. Treseder, that the associations mentioned he written to asking their opinion on the proposal, and if favourably disposed to confer with delegates of the Pahiatna A. and P. Association, at Palmerston North, at the end of the month.
