MARRIAGE OF OPERA SINGER

EXCITING SCENES IN SYDNEY

Signorinn Toti dal Alonre. the famous opera singer, this morning married Signor Enzodemr.ro Lomanto. barrister and tenor, and the handsome singing companion to Toti in many operas. Both are members of the AA’iHiamson-Aleiba Opera Company The marriage ceremony was at St. Alary's Cathedral, the A e y Rev. Dean Crowley officiating. Nuptial Alass was celebrated by Father Delfrancesc-o. 111-., weather was fine but cloudy. A crowd of twenty thousand stretched from the front of the cathedral across tjje road t 0 Hyde Park. Thousands of women and girls fought desperately to get inside the cathedral hours before the ceremony. At 11.30 o’clock the city streets and tall buildings were thronged with excited i >- men. who waved and cheered the

primn donna as she motored through in a large sedan, lavishly bedecked with spring flowers, hyacinths, sweet peas, violets and carnations. No wedding has aroused more interest because of its romantic associations. Alntiy delegates to the forthcoming Eucharistic Congress were present and congratulated, the couple. The bridal car was mobbed after leaving the cafthedral. as it forced its way through the seething mass, mostly women, who struggled to obtain souvenirs. Tn a few minutes every vestige of floral decorations and ribbons on the car had disappeared or been torn to shreds. Many women fell in front of tile following ears. Fortunately no accident occurred.
