THRUPP CUP COMPETITION AVON BY HI KAN LI. The Bush I>adies' Hockey Association held its annual tournament for the Thrupp Cup. at Nireaha. on Wednesday, in fine weather. The attendance was very large. Uukanui proved the winners, defeating N.ieulia in the final. The derailed results are as follows; FIRST ROUND. Newman lost to Hukunui by a bit behind. Alfredton beat Balia nee I—o. the goal being scored by W. Smith. Eketahuna beat Hamua I—l>. A. Dearie being the scorer. Nireaha won from Huiniai I—o. Hastweil 1. beat Pahiatua 0. alter a long drawn-out tussle. SECOND ROUND. Hukauui beat Alfredton 3—o. all the goals being scored by E. Cavunagh. Hastweil, a bye. Nireaha J, won from Eketahuna, the scorer being AI. Fafeita. SEMI-FINAL. Hastweil v. Hukauui.—The teams took the field as follow—Hukauui; R. Smith. Mrs Cavanagli, E l.'avanagh, Mrs -Murray. J. Spring and M. Fafeita. Nireaha worked their wav slcwlv down into Hukanui territory, bus were repulsed. When on their own twenty-five line a. free hit was awarded the home team for an offs hie infringement. but little respite was afforded. Hukanui continued to imo-. a free hit outside the circle taken by Afrs Murray entered the net—h- g disallowed. Play was still around Me Nireaha net. but then AI. Fafeita broke through, supported by S. Goss, to change the asjject.
