SOUTH TARANAKI STOCK PRICES.

The South Taranaki Farmers’ Cooperative Society report that the sales held for the week ending July 21 were about 'the best they have had, large yardings being the order of the clay, keen and spirited bidding and a clearance of practically Everything offered. Only a few backward animals were held over. The results show the high standard of values in the markets and the keen demand for stock. Anything that showed condition and quality showed a ready sale.

At Hawera there were in all 260 head of cattle and prices were good. Forty 3-year Jersey cross heifers averaged £l3, the best price being £l6 10s. A nice liny of 2-year Jersey cross heifers averaged £ll, the beist price being £l3 10s. Fifty cows from the Stratford district brought up to £ll, and herds sold at from £lO to; £l6, with slightly lower rates for late calvers. It was one of the company’s best daisy sales. In the store pens, three-year x,eers fetched up to £7 17s 6d, and rising 2-year Herefords £7 Bs. At Waverley there was also a fine safe, and nearly everything sold at currency rates. The buyers were mostly from the Hawera district. Pigs were in good demand and brought good prices, sow s in pig selling well. , Sheep secured close attention, ewes, mixed ages, in lamb to Southdown rams, going to 33s lid, and black-faced hoggets to 2os 7d.
