LABOUR AMENDMENT DEFEATED LIBERALS ABSTAIN FROM VOTING. (Special—Parliamentary WELLINGTON, Last Night jßhe. no-co.nfidenioe amendment, moved by Mr Holland, was defeated in the House to-night by 38 votes to 18, the division being on the expected lines, the Liberals not voting. FUSION EXPLANATION DELAYED.
AVELLINGTON Last Night. The Leader of’ the' Opposition, who hs returned to Parliamentaryduties, is not fully recovered, and it was owing to this cause that the fusion question was not opened up in the House to-night, Mr" AVilford being absent. The Labour amendment being out of the v<» y, Mr Atmore can move his fusion amendment when he desides if he can secure a seconder.
The speakers following the division to-mght were dealing with the main question, and it was a significant sidelight on the fusion position that the only Liberal speaker, Mr Ransom, made many critical remarks on the Government and drew Ministerial interjections.
