PRONUNCIATION OP WORD
Electric Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, Last Night.
The differing in the pronunciation of the word “year” by a barrister and a Dalmatian, who was giving evidence, caused some amusement at the Supreme Court. Counsel, in the course of a eross-exaniinafio . asked the witness in what year J e made out a certain account, hut the man replied that lie,did not understand, and did not think he had heard the word before
The question was repeated, and finally the Dalmatian, with a look of understanding, replied: “Now you say it two or three times I understand. You call it, yah, and I call it in broken English year.”
