Sarah Smith was carrying a child in a street in Hull when tli© brakes of a motor car failed to act. The driver shouted to the mother, who realising the danger, faced the car with .her back to a wall holding the baby over heir head. The car crashed into- the mother’s body and her head, crushing her to death, hut the ba-bv was saved.
