ALL RED CABLE
DUPLICATION IN PACIFIC. INCREASED AVORDS. E-ectric Telegraph—Press Association . . Copyright. (Australian-N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received this day ? at 10.20 a.m.) London, December i. The Times says that as the result of a great increase in the use of tho All Red cables proposals are under official consideration for a duplication of the Pacific section. Over 9,000,000 paying words have been transmitted this year and this is more than double the number of transmissions before the war. The estimated cost of the duplication is between £3,000,000 and £4,000,000. A arioils alternatives have been suggested to reduce the cost, notably between Fanning Island and Honolulu, and linking up with American ciibios, but this is contrary to the basic idea of an All Red cable.
