May 26The coroner lias committed Morton Palmer Pimental for trial on a charge of maliciously setting fire to Niman’s buildings, and with the wilful murder of Gertrude Riley. Bail was refused. •
(A fire in the Federated Feature Films, Ltd.’s premises in Nunan’s Buildings in Melbourne caused damage estimated at £20,000. Miss G. Riley, who was employed in the building, after telephoning her employer that the workrooms were ablaze?, was overcome by the smoke and heat and burned to death. Subsequently, PimentaJ, managing-di-rector of the Federated Feature Films. Ltd., was arrested on a charge of maliciously setting fire to Nunan’s Buddings with intent to defraud.
