INCREASE IN SUICIDES.
Suicides throughout the world show a marked increase since the war ended, according to statistics gathered: b}* the “Save a Life League,” and in the United States last year 6171 persons took their own lives—an increase of more than 1000 over 1919. Male isuiaides in the United. Staltes totalled 3567, female 2604, and the figures included 223 boys and 484 girls. The causes for children’s suicides included fear of punishment, school troubles, unhappy home cruelty, revenge, and love affairs. Tlie youngest suicide was 5 years of age and tlie oldest "103. Classified by vocations, the list includes r; 5 jn- si dents and managers, of business • concerns, 36 millionaires, 23 women of wealth, 12 writers and editors, 24 8 judges, 51 doctors, 40 actors and actresses, 34 teachers and college professors, 27 college students 24 brokers 59 bankers, 12 clergymen, and 2 evangelists.
