ROADMEN'S WAGES.

Thf chairman of the Horow henna County Council, at the List meeting, said most, oi the adjacent counties had raised their surfaceny-n's vuigos, some up to 10s per day. and he thought it was up to the Council to make an increase. say. from rts to 9s Gd, to take effect during the currency o* the war. It was true some of their roadmen were, well up in years, but they had been in the Council’s employ for .some time and he would like to pee their pay increased by 6d per day. Certainly the roadmen had not asked for the increase, and it. was known some of them were not worth 9s a day. but. the extra Gd might bo an incentive for them to work better. The Council should consider the times, and th«’ fact that the cost of living had increased by 25 to 5)0 per cent. —Derided to give a rise of tvi per <fay. The engineer made application for an increase ot salary (£25), and asked that £25 be refunded him for the past running of his car. The request wos granted.
