Recently a Dannevirke gardener sent a number of blight samples from • tops in his garden to tin* Agricultural Department Wellington, for identification and has received a letter in reply, stating that peas had been attacked by leaf spot ; that potato leaves had l>een mainly damaged by altornaria solani. but a small amount or Irish blight was also present - , tomato leaves (curly) had been affected with inarcosparintn (alternaria); the fruit had also lxs-n affect«xl similarly, while the biologist was unable to stub' what was the trouble with » truss of flowers which had withered and failed to set fruit. The Department advised the spraying of all affect'd plants with tin* summer formula of Bordeau mixture: 31b sulphate copper. 41b fresh quick lime, 40 gallons of water.
