DISTRICT NOTES.
The annual meeting of the Gorge Domain Board was held on Saturday.
Tire report and balance-sheet showed, a credit balance in hand of £3l 5s 7d It was agreed that six months’ leave of absence he granted Mr J. O’Hagan on account of his proposed visit to the Old Country. It was resolved that the erection of the second shelter shed be proceeded with as soon as possible, to be completed this summer. It was also resolved that two fire shelters be ereet<hl on the east side of the road, from the Rallance bridge. Mr It. B. Ross asked for some totajai timber from the Domain at a royalty. The Board regretted being unable to dispose of any.
At the Hawke’s Bay Land Board meeting, Banks Pinblinton. formerly of -Uungatainoka, licensee, sec. 6, blk. 8, Woodville, (Ahuaturaga block), complained to the officer eommanding Tauherenikau camp, which letter was ■referred to the Hon. Minister of Landis, tlm.f the Land Board on November 12th, 1915, declined to grant him exemption of payment of rent during his service with the Expedtionary Force in spite of the Land Law- Amendment Act, 1915, which gives power to grout, remission of rent. —Resolved that after carefully going into the question the Board decided to adhere to its previous resolution, of 12th Nov., and it does not sc*e its w ay to grant a remission of rent at this stage.
’Hie Wairarapa War Fund Executive Iras at present £23,411 of the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund invested. At a special meeting of the Executive, it was decided that the Trustees be empowered to invest all surplus moneys up to « margin of not less than £3OOO, in freehold or other securities.
