PAHIATUA RACING CLUB.
NEXT MONTH S GATHERING
A meeting of the stewards of the Pahiatua Racing Club was held in the Commercial Hotel last evening. There were present: Messrs H. 11cShorry (in the chair), P. Tulloch, .1. Trevor Thomas, T. Mexted, W. 1. Husbrnd, J. McCardle, E. Sullivan, 6. V. Rodney. A. 1-nrsen, E. Harley, and A. Weston (secretary). An apology for absence was received front the president (Mr J. Breeds).
Mr Thomas called attention to the fact that he considered the last meeting was irregular, and in doing bo he expressed the opinion that the business was not being done in a satisfactory manner, and hoped that matters would improve. An informal -discussion took place, and the matter then dropped. Mr Spriggins approached the Club with regard to the working of the totalisator at the coining meeting. It was decided that Mr McCardle wait on Messrs Marriott and Fox, asking them for a price for working the machine. and report to a meeting of stewards to tie held on Monday evening next.
It was decided that Mr Langley, of Foxton, be interviewed at Woodville to-day respecting the catering at the race meeting. Messrs Husband. Sullivan ami McCardle to lie a committee.
The following officials were upturned for the race meeting to he held on March 29th: Leading-in stewards, Messrs Hare, Sullivan ami Mexted: blackboard stewards. Messrs MeSherry ami Larsen : saddle cloths and numbers. Mr P. Tulloch: -tar tors’ steward. .Mr Rodney; gate stewards. Messrs McCardle and Husband; totalizator steward, Mr Thomas; hurdle stewards, Messrs E. Sullivan and T. Mexted: luncheon steward, Mr I. .M'"Cardie: collector or' jockcvs’ fees, Mr G. C. Miller.
The appointment of two ambulance •men was left in the hands of the secretary. Mr Palmer was appointed to look after the starting banner. It was decided that the prices for admission he : Outside gates, j»ede*trians, Is; horsemen. 2s: motors and vehicles. 2s fid: members’ vehicles, free. Grandstand: Gentlemen ss. ladies 2s fid.
Mr McSherry was appointed to interview the Town Band. Mr McCardle to wait on Mr Cameron, and Mr Husband was appointed to interview Air Kraetzen (racecourse detective). Tt was decided that the Club pro cure the necessary “hell topper” for the use of the elerk of the course. Tenders are to he called for the rights for a publican’s booth at the meeting. and the Chib decided to retain the rights of the race hooks.
