RECORD WOOL SALE.

HIGH PRICES REALISED. Electric Telezrapb-—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. To-day’s sale attracted a record catalogue for Now Zealand, viz., 39,000 bales. This included wools which had arrived in Wellington up to loth January, when the catalogue closed. Tlie sale was, to have been held in the 25th of last month. Then it was arranged for 10th February. The adjournments were caused by the difficulty experienced by buyers in obtaining sufficient shipping space. Buyers operated with considerable confidence, and the market showed an advance of -*d on December rates for halfbreds. Super crossbreds were at par —these were lines fit for the United States, but there w.as no American competition to-day. Coarse and inferior crossbreds advanced fully Id on December rates, and such wools com prised the bulk of the offerings. Lambs wool was in good supply, and it was fd to 2d per pound bettor than the December rates. Besides Now Zealand buyers representatives were present from Home. French. Italian and Japanese firms. With regard to the future of prices, all that /can be said is that naval and military contracts still necessitate the consumption of enormous quantities of wool, principally the coarse wools. If sufficient of these he not forthcoming then, as once before during the war period, the fine wools will he utilised, regardless of price. THE SALE CONTINUED. Wellington, This Day. The wool s«ile was resumed to-day. The top price realised so far was- l!)pl lot a line of Romney crossbred wool from Hokitika.
