The Timaru Supreme Court was occupied iu hearing .a charge of manslaughter against James William Grant, a innholder of Mackenzie Country, of causing the death of Hector W. P. Cox, a machinery agent, by the negligent driving of a motor ear causing a collision with the motor cycle ridden by deceased. Accused claimed that his speed was usual on that road and not unreasonable, that he w as on the middle of the road and did not turn off until after the collision and the swerve had capsized the ear.
