It every district was to fulfil its obligations m regard to recruiting like Pahiatua. then' would not l>o the foar ot the voluntarv system breaking down It was stat«s! by the Mayor at yesterday's staid-off to the latent batch of recruits that since September Ist' 1914. 199 men .had been on. rolhsl locally and at the present tfm*» 40 men were waiting to lie called up. This statement was considered very satisfactory. and wus received with applause. •
