\ isitors to the Pahiatua show, to be held on Friday next, will notice a marked improvement in the grounds. 'l'he show ring has been ploughed, levelled, and sown down in the best English grasses, and nowpresent a beautiful appearance. A line picket fence has been erected around tke egrandstand, and the enclosure embanked. Shelter trees have also been' planted, and no effort has been spared by the enterprising president (Mr Charles Avery), uacK eo up by an enthu'iastc committee, to make the grounds as up-to-diate for show purposes and attractive as possible. A much-needed structure has been built during the last two weeks to meet the requirements of the caterer a fine kitchen, erected at a cost of some fifty -pounds. A picturesque piece of native bush bordering the showgrounds was never seen, to better advantage than at the present time, and visitors to the show, when tins! ol watching the jumping events and other competitions, will find this delightful park most restful. With anything like a fine day the crowd at the showgrounds on Frida y shouM easily constitute a record lor the district. The exhibits promise to lx- of excellent quality and die ring events and other features of an interesting order. Among the attractions at the Pahiatua show on Friday wil] be Captsun W. Greenhalgh. of the Great White City, who will have an exhibition of reptiles. He Ims been granted special permission by tho Government to exhibit reptiles. His daughter ‘Little Star.''” gives s wonderful exhibition with the ritle. This side-show will tio doubt be visited by numbers of people.
