The number on flic roll of the Pongaroa -chool has lag n steadily advancing and has reached the point where the aeeornmodatioA provided is overcrowded and there in no rerun for further pupils. Faced with this serious position the local coriirriittee made trong representations to headquarters, an<l our corr|apondent now reports that the Wfflington Education Board has rejJied deelinmg to make any additions To the -chool. Several children of school! age are waiting to attend, hut until the over-crowding is relic,ved parents will not send them, ft is reported that in ell probability the matter will not ho a 1 Lowed to rest with the Board's refusal, to do any- • thing. .Miss Isles, .the newly-ap pointed assistant. took up her duties at the school this week.
