PONGAROA COTTAGE HOSPITAL.
PREMISES SECURED
The proposal to establish a cottage hospital at Pongaroa has been taken up energetically by those who have interested themselves in the movement and as a result a start has virtually been made with the institution. At a meeting of the Hospital Committee on Thursday it was reported by Mr F. Herbert that the building at present occupied by Mrs Kayser had been purchased, and a trained nurse engaged. It was decided to procure new furniture. All present were formed into a eomittee. and Messrs F. Herbert and E. Payne were elected chairman and secretary respectively. Dr. Wilkins. Messrs F. Herbert, R. M. Robertson and It. B. Robertson were appointed a sub-committee to arrange the scale of charges and adjust other matters. The hospital will supply an urgent want in the district, tin the past accident and other important, cases, no matter how serious, had either to receive what amounted, to only emergency treatment because of the absence of proper facilities, or else face the <langer of the long journey to the nearest hospital town. Now the Pongaroa cottage hospital will be able to receive and adequately treat the urgent cases from a wide area.
