REMOVAL OF PROHIBITION. Electric Telegraph —Press Association. Wellington, Last NightIn reply to Mr E. Newman, the Premier said in the House to-night that he had been in communication with the Premier of the Comonwealth on the subject of prohibition of wheat and flour. He had asked that the prohibition be removed on existing contracts. His Excellency the Governor was also in communication with the Governor-General. He understood prohibition was not due to the war, but to drought in the wheatgrowing districts of Australia, in which shortage was expected. He was glad to notice that the drought had since broken, a.nd this had encouraged him to make another application.
