THE GENERAL ELECTION.
FEELING OF BOTH SIDES
OPPOSE POSTPONEMENT. (By Telegraph.—Special Reporter.) Wellington, This Day. The Prime .Minister announced last night that owing to the indisposition of the Leader of the Opposition the proposed conference regarding the date of the elections was not held yesterday. Petitions praying for the postponement of the elections were reported upoon by the M. to Z. Petitions Committee last evening. The Committee’s reort was that it had no recommendation to make in regard to the petition. There now seems to be a growing feeling amongst the Opposition, as well as Government memberte, that the elections should be held in the usual course. After sitting only in the evenings for several weeks past the House will resume afternoon as well as evenings sittings to-day.
