Bishop Weldon and the Bishop of Birmingham condemn Rev. Inge’s pessimism. The former asserts that there is no reason why the Church should not be allied to the democracy which tends to secure the greatest happiness for the greatest number. Melbourne, Last Night. Hon. Win. Hughes, Federal Attor-ney-General, referring to the Dean of St. Paul’s cabled .statement, declared that he was speaking about matters he did not understand, and was the tyjie of pampered, narrowminded cleric, which was getting the church into disrepute. The Unionists were fighting for better conditions.
