WOODVILLE NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Tiie Oddfellows' Lodge met on Friday evening. Bro. A. Leith. N.G.. in the chair. One candidate was initiated. and a visiting brother welcomed to the Lodge. The secretary read the valuation report for the five years ended on the 31st December, 1904, by Mr T. Traversi, Government Actuary. from which it appeared that on that day the Lodge had surplus funds to the extent of £023, being an increase ot £127 on the surplus of five years previous. Mr Traversi strongly recommended the Lodge to make efforts to increase its membership. The sick pay for the five years had been £l4 in excess of that anticipated. hut the actual sickness had not been quite equal to expectations. The increase in pay rose from there being more illnesses of short duration carryitig full pay. A committee was set up to consider the best method of dealing with the surplus in the interests of the Lodge, which will probably he by allotting a portion of it in shares to the various members who were in the lodge on the valuation date, each member’s share to he payable as nil addition to his funeral benefit . with, possibly, a provision that it should he available to redeem his contributions on his arriving at the ago of sixty. A committee was also set up to consider the best place for lodge meetings.
