ORANGE BLOSSOMS.

Yesterday afternoon at 8 o’clock a large congregation of ladies assembled in the Anglican Church to witness the nuptials of Mr Charlie Downard, third son of W. Downard, of Carterton, and Miss Justina Bly, fifth daughter of Mr W. Bly, Mangatainoka. Mr Downard has been a prominent membsr of the local Musical Society, and of the Anglican choir, and has always readily assisted at local benefit concerts. His unassuming and obliging disposition has made him a warm favorite with a host of people, and we with them join in wishing himself and bride a long life of prosperity and happiness. The Rev. H. M. B. Marshall officiated. The Church choir assembled in force and sang two appropriate hymns. At the conclusion of the ceremony Miss Lily Falconer played the wedding march. The bride was very tastefully dressed in hluo grey silk lustre with hat to match. The bridesmaids were Miss M. Bly and Miss L. McKinley in cream and blue lustre with ribbons and bats to match, and the Misses S. and May Bly in cream nun’s veiling trimmed with lace and hats to match. Mr Jones, the popular assistant master of the Maugatainoka school, acted as groomsman and displayed a knowledge of the procedure which indicated either that he had filled the position before, or had made a study of the service for early personal application, After the final signature the happy couple were forced to run the gauntlet through a crowd of ladie3 armed with enough precious rice to feed an industrial school for a week, A determined attack was kept up at close range till the brougham was readied and the window raised to guard the bridal pair. The party drove away from the church, followed by a discharge of old boots.
