Sir, A few weeks ago County Councillor Marsh was trying, umb r plea of retrenchment, to get rid of our County Clerk. At tin* last Council meeting, held on tin* 3rd inst., be moved the following resold tion : “ That in future members of the Council be paid five shillings pci day for travelling expenses." Tin goes to show how much Cr Marsh cares about retrenchment. No doubt In* was looking to the future and fancied if he could only work this a a blind tho money so saved would then be able to go into bis own pocket by way of travelling expenses. I feel bound to bring the matter before your notice and let the people see what, sort of a man we have in Cr Marsh. 1 trust, the electors will remember this next election, when he tells them he is again going to retrench, and trust they know Inin , well enough to know that it is re trenohinont suit his own ends and
