WOODLANDS HUNT CLUB.
First Meet at Pahiatua. The first meet of the season of the Pahiatua branch of the Woodlands Hunt Club took place on Saturday afternoon in weather that was simply perfect. Every circumstance was favorable to a satisfactory run. The course had been well prepared, there was a good attendance and the hounds were in rare fettle. They were under the charge of Mr R. Roake, Mr Poppleton being unable to take his place owing to an injury to his hand. Amongst others who followed were Messrs Burgess, Brenton, Dumbleton, Sullivan, Ingley, Hughes, G., M. and T. Avery, Beckett, Hartgill and Sheen. The thanks of the Club are due to the property-owners for having allowed the course to be laid down. The next meet will take place on Wednesday, 30th inst.
