The steamer Victoria has arrived from the New Hebrides ; she brings no news of the loss of H.M.S. Riugarooma. A Steamer Ashore. Sydney, September 8. A 2000 ton steamer m.der charter to the Adelaide S.S. Co. lias gone ashore on the Newcastle bar. It is believed the vessel will become a total wreck. Bicycle Carnival. Sydney, September 9. The ten mile amateur championship of Australia was won by C. H, Jones, of Christchurch. Kerr, of New South Wales, was second. Time—29mi«t 6sec. The Narrabri Tragedy. Sydney, This Day. Particulars of the tragedy at Narrabri show that Maher who was living apart from his wife visited Green’s house and told him he was going to shoot him. Green picked up a rifle and aimed it at Maher but it missed fire; tho lattor remarking “You’ve had your turn, now me ” shot him dead. The wife and son overpowered the murderer but Maher got free by strategy and shot his wife dead and then himself.
