In the Legislative Council Sir G. Whitmore moved That a committee be appointed to prepare a loval address to the Queen, congratulating her on the birth of a son to the l>uke of York.

Mr bolt opposed the motion as savouring of false sentiment, iasinceiity and jingoism, which he could not tolerate. / The motion was agreed to and the Couneil adjourned. House of Representatives. The house met at 2.30. Captain Russell raised the question of privilege in connection witli tho Sergeant at Arms, and moved That Colonel Fraser* presence in the Chamber is a breach of the privileges of the House. After a short discussion the motion was lost by 45 to 16. Mr Se idon gave notice to move that the appointment of a Sergeant at Arms be deferred till the 18th December next, and in the meantime Colonel Fraser perforin the necessary duties usually performed by th • Sergeant at Arms without fee or payment of any kind whatever. Mr Seddon gave notice to move next in\ that Mr Guinness be appointed chairIU An Imprest Supply Bill for £278,000 was passed through ail the stages. In reply to a question Mr Cadman slated that the tiiuo would not permit of Legislation being introduced this session to enable more State coalfields to be opened and worked. The House rose at 6.30 pun. The House resumed at 7.30. The Shops anil Shops’ Assistants’ Bill, Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration i Bill, anil Conspiracy Law Amendment Bill, were read a second time. The House rose at 11.15 p.m.
