(Per Press Association) Sydney, Mav 18. A further telegram received from “ New Australia '* announces that Mr Lane, the former Administrator, has with 47 men, some with fnmilips, agreed to start an independent colony, close to the original site. A perfectly friendly agreement, it is said, was arrived at between Lane and the new authorities ns to the land and conditions.
The reason of the course now proposed lie * in the fact that Lane and those mi mediately connected with him strongly insisted on the necessity of a much higher standard of morality being recognised, while others considered it was unnecessary. It has been agreed to keep together until the now constitution proclaims Lnne and tho other* free to leave the original settlement. The trustees in Australia have given notice of their intention to join Lane as soon as the plans are fulfilled.
