(From an occasional Correspondent) Anyone wanting to get n good idea of tho amount of road work and bush settle ment that has been done in the bush dis trict will be well repaid if they take a trip up the Mukuri Valley. Thev can drive a buggy as far as Mr Whitta’s, then take a horse along the six-foot track to the top of the Ptfketoi range, from which they can sco right across to the moutli of the Akiteo river, with the sea beyond ; while under the eastern slope of the range can be seen Pahiatua No. 1,2, 8, and 4 Special Settlements and the Woodville Rising Sun Block now under survey. In the Pahiatua Associations several settlers have had good burns. Continuing his journey the traveller, if riding, can return by the Makairo, which consists of part bridle track, and the rest dray road along which he will see some scenery that wiii ■ knock spots off the Gorge.
