Pahiatua Rifle Club.
A committee matting of the above Club waa hold at the Club Hotel on Monday avowing. Proaect— Moan Boot ham (Pro •id eat, ia the chair), Norton, Taylor, Avery, Blair, Knight, Westmoreland, Beaney, Hyde, and Gregory. The conditio no of competition for the President's Cup being the principal item of the evening, it was duly dincuoecd t> the committee and subjected to tho President for hie approval, and decided as follows: —The cup to be fired for at six competitions, four competlona to count for the beet aggregme, the highest scorer to become the winner of the challenge cup for 1894. to be won three time* by the N&tne competitor before becoming hi* own propertr. Ranges 200, 600, and 600 yds. 7 shots at each, competitors to be handicaoed by ahot* and not by points. Messrs Norton. Taylor, and Avery, were appointed h&ndicappers. The first competition for the cup was filed for February 14th. morning and afternoon squads. A challenge was received from the Otaki Rifle Club to fire a friendly teams match at an early date, also a report was received from Captain Norton, of the receut visit of the representatives of the Club to the second annual meeting of the Wairarapa Rifle Association held U Greytown on the 22nd and 23rd January, which was considered by the committee very satisfactory, the team having won Mix prizes in all. Following is the report : Gentlemen, —I have to report that your representatives Messrs Miller, McCardle, Norton, Taylor, and Bowse attended the Wairarapa Rifle Club Association's second annual meeting at Greytown on the 22nd and 23rd January, und are very well satistied with the result of the trip. In the Presidont’n Match Mr Norton won Bth prize. Mr Miller 10th, and Mr Taylor 12th. In the Nursery Match Mr McCardle won 2nd and Mr Miller 3rd, and in the Wairarapa Match Mr Norton 14th, or a total of 414 15s. At the general meeting of members Mr Norton’s name was addei to the general committee, and mo now we have two representatives. The moat important resolution carried waa one moved by Captain Cameron, “ That the Association accept a* many clubs or corpn ah wish to officiate,” This it is expected will greatly increase the number of entries next year, when it is hoped a larger number of our own members will attend.—C. J. Norton, Captain. It waa decided to alter the usual Thurs* day shooting to Wednesday, in consequene of the alteration of the weekly lialfholiday. There being no other business the meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
