STOCK. Messrs Abraham and Williams report : At Palmerston on Thursday xve yarded up a full muster of cattle. Beef, male stock and young cuttle kept their value. The downward tendency in heifers and cows experienced at our last sale was again apparent yesterday. Not withstand ing this, however, very little went hack unsold, practically speaking a total clearance being effected. Sheep in moderate numbers. A cheerful and healthy tone existed throw* Imut. The fat wethers which were represented in one line only, were from fair to good mutton, carrying an excellent fleece. For hoggets there was an unsatisfied demand; of those offered the quality ranged from medium to good. The day’s quotations are as follow : Cattle.—Prime cows, £7 4s fid to £7 11s; fat bullocks, light to rather Inflow medium weights. £7 7s fid to £7 15s ; forward bullocks, £5 19s ; Byr steers. £4 10s to £5 4s; 2vr do, £3 13s to £3 15s ; mixed yearlings. £2 lHs 6d ; small xveaners. 355; springing heifers, £5 2s ; store cows, £3 lfis fid to £4. Sheep. Fat wethers. 15s; hoggets, 10s 7d to Pis 2d; small 2-tooth cxves, lls 4s ; store wethers, 13s 5d ; aged forward ewes, 9s 2d. At Woodville on Tuesday, the wet weather placed the stock at a disadvantage and reduced the entries. The hulk was quitted. Mr Ormond’s heifers made up to £5 ss. On account of other clients store cows made from £‘3 10s, ami store wethers from 10s 9d to 11s fid.
