Tutaekara.
The sneak thief has made his debut near Tutaekara, one settler having been eased of a couple of hundred of fencing wire.
In the spring time young men’s thoughts turn lightly to love. Mr Henry Fisk, formerly of the Hutt, has recently taken unto himself a fair young bride ; and several other young couples are said to be seriously contemplating matrimony. The negotiations for the purchase of Mrs Stewnrt’s interest in the Hawera 11 otel have fallen through. The recent fine weather has had a very beneficial effect on all kinds of stock, especially the young lambs. The farmers were also able to do a little gardening which had been rather backward.
The public generally will regret to hear that TV. Henderson is still in a critical state. He has been sent to Musterton in hopes that the change will do him good. The two sawmills at Hawera are very busy just now’, and judging from the amount of timber cut there must be a great many buildings in course of erection in the district. The measles have been through most of the children in the district, and it is pleasing to state that no cases have resulted fatally.
