LORNEVILLE STOCK SALE

INVERCARGILL. August 18.

There were only moderate yardings at the weekly Loraeville stock sale to-day, with a complete defection of store sheep. There was a further decline in prices in the case of both sheep and cattle, butchers showing very little inclination to enter into competition for the fat stock offered. There was a good yarding of fat cattle, comprised almost wholly of bullocks,, with only a small percentage of cows and heifers. There was a complete absence of outside competition, and butchers’ requirements appeared to be very limited, with the result that a further decline in values of from £1 to £1 10s occurred. The fat sheen market was similarly lifeless. the decline in this section being about Is per head all round.
