OTAGO A. AND P. SOCIETY.

SUMMER SHOW.

The schedules for the Otago A. and P. Society’s forthcoming Summer Show, which will be held at Tahuna Park on November 25 and 26, are now being distributed. and for the convenience of intending exhibitors copies can be obtained from kindred associations and the representatives of the various stock and station agents throughout Otago. The General Committee decided this year to appoint small sub-committees which would be responsible for the revision of each section of the schedule, which not only facilitated the work, but submitted several recommendations with a view of improving competition. It will be unnecessary to review each section, but it is worthy of note that the maiden classes in Romney, Border Leicester, Corriedale, and merino sheep are again included. There is a number of breeders who have undoubtedly good stock, but who may not care to go to the same expense as some of their rival breeders in getting their stock in an equal condition. It is to oe regretted that these classes have not been better supported in the past, but it cannot be expected that the society will continue this section unless it received more liberal support. In conjunction with the Forbury Park Trotting Club, two extra classes have been added for trotters and pacers, which will be judged on type, soundness, action, and the manners of the animals, and the programme arranged for the afternoon of the People’s Day of the show is varied and most attractive. The society has every right to expect that it should receive the support of breeders, the business community, and the general public. No exception can be taken to the amount of money offered in prizes, and the committee places considerable confidence in receiving the support of all classes, when it commits the society to a liability of £975. distributed in the various sections as follows: —Sheep £221, cattle £341, horses £239, competitions £lO5, sundries £69.
