THE WHALER KOSMOS.

DAILY WEATHER REPORTS

WELLINGTON, October 1.

Since she left Wellington the whaler Kosmos has been sending a daily weather report, which has been much appreciated by the Government meteorologist and of great assistance in preparing forecasts. To-day the Kosmos was in latitude 64 south, longitude 172 east, barometer 28.27, a fall of over an inch since yesterday; N.N.E. gale of force nine, temperature 32 degrees, seas very heavy. Evidently the ship is near the centre of a most intense Antarctic cyclone.
