FILM POSTERS.

CENSORSHIP REGULATIONS.

APPEARANCE IN THE GAZETTE. T , i October 1. Ihe long-looked-for regulations concerning the censorship of film posters and other advertising matter under the Kinematograph Films Act, 1928, were formally gazetted to-night. The new regulations provide that every person commits an offence who exhibits or uses for the advertisement of any film, or who supplies to any person for such purpose any poster which has not been approved by the censor. This, of course, does not apply to posters relating to films approved for exhibition by the censor before these regulations came into force —namely, to-day (October 2). Posters cannot be altered in any manner after being approved by the censor, who may approve a poster, refuse his approval for it. or have it altered to meet with his approval. A penalty of £5 is provided for persons making false or misleading statements in applications for the approval of posters, and special fees are to be charged when applicants wish the censor’s examination _ of the posters to be completed within 48 hours of submission. Should applicants be dissatisfied with the censor’s decision they may appeal to a board of appeal. Regulations with reference to the publication of the certificate of the censor and registrar in respect of sound picture filnis, and also an amendment of the Kinematograph Films (Storage, Exhibition, and Renting) Regulations are also gazetted.
